METAIRIE, La. - A group of teens in Jefferson Parish found a body in a ditch Thursday afternoon. The teens reported that the body was found along the 6300 block of Humphreys Street.
"We were just riding our bikes and my cousin found it," one of the teens said.
Officials said the victim was wrapped inside a sleeping bag and trash bags. The body was so badly decomposed that investigators were unable to immediately tell what kind of injuries the victim had, if any at all.

A dead body wrapped inside a sleeping bag was discovered Thursday near a drainage canal in Metairie, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
The sleeping bag was zipped up and tied shut at the top.
Investigators said they did not know how long the body had been there, but said it was badly decomposed and was that of a white male.
They could not say how he died; an autopsy would be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
“It’s badly decomposed, so until they actually get it to the coroner’s office where they can actually examine it, they will be able to determine what the situation is at this point,” said JPSO spokesperson Col. John Fortunato.
The first person to find the body was a 13-year-old boy; he had been riding bikes with some friends when they made the discovery.
