Press Release NBC’S “THE MORE YOU KNOW” CAMPAIGN ENLISTS THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING & EXPLOITED CHILDREN FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE SEASON Internet Safety Messages to Reach Up to 64 Million Homes Per Week ALEXANDRIA, VA – December 19, 2005 – For the fourth consecutive season, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) will participate in NBC’s award-winning public service campaign, “The More You Know.” Debuting tonight during NBC’s hit television drama, Las Vegas, NCMEC’s public service announcements will focus on Internet safety. “The More You Know” campaign is a series of public service announcements (PSAs) highlighting family empowerment and is NBC’s longest running initiative. Celebrities including Josh Duhamel and Molly Sims of Las Vegas participated in this year’s PSAs that promote Internet safety for children and heighten awareness about potential dangers online. The PSAs will conclude with NCMEC’s 24-hour Hotline, 1-800-THE-LOST. “Our top priority is to reach teens before predators do,” said NCMEC President and CEO Ernie Allen. “And NBC’s overwhelmingly successful ‘The More You Know’ campaign and ability to reach into 64 million homes every week does just that. We are truly thrilled to be a part of such a valuable initiative.” Other organizations in the Fall 2005-2006 PSA lineup include the U.S. Department of Education; USA Freedom Corps, National Mentoring Partnership; and National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information.
