Little Rock Toddler Stabbed to Death Sunday December 31, 2006 10:04pm Reporter: Pamela Smith Posted By: Katrina Strickland Little Rock - A story that can only be described as disturbing and heartbreaking to share as we wrap up the year. A Little Rock toddler was reportedly stabbed Sunday and police say it happened at the hands of his own father. Police got a call to a home at 6601 Stirling Drive shortly after 4 Sunday afternoon. There, they encountered a gruesome scene. (Charles Hardy, Neighbor) "When I turned the corner coming home and I noticed all the police cars and crime scene tape, I just knew something bad had happened." Little did Charles Hardy know, the horror that had been unleashed inside his neighbors’ home in this quiet community with well-manicured lawns. Police say the man who lived here left church in Faulkner County earlier with his 2-year-old son. (Terry Hastings, Spokesperson LRPD) "Mother was left there, they contacted they sheriff's office there and asked us to check this address, which is where they live to see if everything is okay." Police knocked on the door and windows and at first didn’t get an answer. Nothing could prepare them for what would happen next. (Hastings) "A male came to the door covered in blood. Officers took him into custody. They went inside and found a 2-year-old that had been killed." The child is reportedly stabbed to death by his own father. Something Hardy, who's known the man and his wife moved to the neighborhood over two years ago, finds hard to believe. (Hardy) "Very disturbing, I see the couple from time to time going in. They'd be outdoors playing with their little boy. I just thought they were the ideal couple…it hurts, especially being a child." Police have identified the man as 34-year-old Damar Courtney Sanders. No motive has been determined for the case. According to the police report, Sanders is employed at the Little Rock School District. He apparently suffered from self-inflicted injuries that were not life-threatening. Sanders is charged with capital murder. http://www.katv.com/news/stories/1206/384411.html
