He says computers have opened up a whole new world of abuse. For years - most predators only had access to children in public places like a park - but now experts say the Internet affords them easier access. The doctor tells KATC predators are now sliding down a more slippery slope. Men who would have never imagined sexually abusing a child can now view kiddie porn in their own homes, he says. Add that to flirtatious Internet chats - and crossing the line into setting up a real-world meeting becomes easier. So why are they doing it? The doctor says most Internet predators are afraid of women, and they view the computer as a shield from rejection. Just like Coach Arthur Goodly, who was arrested Tuesday for allegedly soliciting a child, the doctor tells TV-3 many of these adults are married and carry on normal lives. He says, what gets them in trouble is when they try to make their fantasies a reality. Experts say most men who abuse children were abused themselves.
