A state senator wants Wisconsin to join 12 other states that use an emergency alert system to notify the public when seniors with dementia go missing.
It's called Silver Alert and it operates much like the Amber Alert for endangered children.
The emergency alert system would broadcast relevant information about the missing person on radio and TV and also display it on electronic highway signs.
Senator Mary Lazich of New Berlin says she'll introduce the Silver Alert bill within the next few weeks. Lazich says because the technology is in place for Amber Alerts, the system for those with Alzheimer's disease or dementia wouldn't be costly.
