Woman Stuffed in Trunk Escapes, Boyfriend Arrested September 19th, 2006 @ 8:30am Ashley Hayes Reporting A woman says she was beaten, bound, and then stuffed into the trunk of a car. She's free this morning and her former boyfriend is in police custody. Police say the incident began in West Valley City. The woman was driven to Tooele, where she was put in the trunk yesterday. The car ended up in Salt Lake City. The woman finally was able to free herself early this morning. The trunk had a release latch that let her escape. She called police around 5 am and told officers the suspects were inside the house near 1500 West 300 South. Police and SWAT arrived and surrounded the home. They used a bullhorn to call out the suspect. He came out without incident, avoiding a standoff. Police arrested the boyfriend, who was armed, along with several other people.
