Amber alert issued for abducted 4-day-old baby Mother said woman claimed to be from immigration, stabbed her and took baby Staff reports • September 29, 2009 A statewide AMBER alert has been issued for a 4-day-old baby abducted this afternoon by a woman claiming to be an immigration agent, Metro police said. Maria Gurrolla said her son, Yair Anthony Carillo, was taken about 2:40 p.m. today from her home at 3826 East Ridge Drive in south Nashville. Gurrolla told police the woman was white and in her mid-30s, with blonde hair in a ponytail. She was about 5 feet 4 inches tall, heavyset and wearing a black blouse and blue jeans. She was driving a black four-door sedan resembling a police-type vehicle. The mother said the suspect knocked on her door, claimed to be with INS, and wanted to see her immigration papers. The mother let her in, and then the woman demanded she give her the baby. When the mother refused, the woman stabbed her eight times, police said. Her injuries are not life-threatening. The home on the dead-end south Nashville street has a stork sign on the front lawn, announcing the family had a baby boy. UPS delivery worker Lance Smith said he was making a delivery across the street when he saw a Hispanic woman come onto the front porch and yell. "I heard her first, and then she reached down to the porch and grabbed something,” he said. He didn't know what she grabbed, and didn't think it sounded as if she was hurt. Smith said he didn't see the woman, the car or the baby, and his first indication something was wrong was when the police arrived. Police said Gurrolla is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in serious condition. Her 3-year-old daughter was home with her at the time of the abduction, but was unharmed and is now with family. When she refused, investigators say the suspect stabbed the mother eight times and took the baby. Four-day-old Carrillo is described as an Hispanic boy with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue and white striped onesie. The suspect is described as a White female, about 30 years old. She is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and is said to be heavy set. Investigators say she has blonde hair that was pulled back into a pony tail. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and drove a black 4-door sedan that was described as looking like a police car. Person of Interest Found, 4-Day Old Still Missing September 29, 2009 6:49 PM The person of interest in a Nashville Amber Alert has been located but a 4-day-old baby remains missing. Yair Anthony Carrillo is a Hispanic Male with black hair and brown eyes. He was kidnapped while wearing a blue and white-striped onsie. Police suspect the child was taken by Lisa Sampson, who was posing as an immigration worker. She had come to the residence and demanded the mother give her the baby. When the mother refused to comply she stabbed the mother 8 times. The mother is recovering in a hospital. Early Wednesday morning Sampson was found in New York state but authorities have not found the infant. An Amber Alert remains in effect. Police: Kidnapped newborn found safe in Alabama (AP) – 1 hour ago NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Police say a kidnapped infant has been found safe in Alabama, and a woman suspected of abducting the baby has been arrested. Police said the child was found Friday night in good health at a home in Ardmore. They said the break in the case came as a task force of local, state and federal investigators developed strong information on a car seen at the kidnap scene and at a store. Yair Anthony Carillo was taken from his home Tuesday, just four days after he was born to 30-year-old Maria Gurrolla. She told police a heavyset white woman with blonde hair arrived at her home posing as an immigration agent, attacked her with a knife, then took the boy.
