Missing Child in Greene Township Found Safe
Staff Report
A missing three-year-old child that resulted in an overnight search and rescue has been found and is safe, Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, said in a release Saturday morning.
Volunteers, firefighters and State Police from around the county continued a search into the early morning hours for a 3-year-old child who was reported missing Friday night in Greene Township.
According to volunteers at the scene, the child was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Letterkenny Road. Search crews initially began their search in the perimeter around Letterkenny, Shatzer and Salem Roads. Teams of rescuers combed the countryside using four-wheel-drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and on foot. A state police helicopter with infrared technology was also flown to the search area.
Shortly before 2 a.m. bloodhound dogs were dispatched to the scene from Cumberland County and were expected to arrive at the area within the hour.
Police said the child was found during an area search and that there were no further details. The news release instructed members of the media not to call with questions.
