Corpses, Toddler Found at Florida Home
Tuesday, July 25, 2006

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Two people were found dead inside a South Florida home after a dehydrated toddler was discovered in a high chair outside, authorities said.

Authorities didn't release the names or ages of the victims or say if the child was related to the two. They also didn't reveal how the victims died beyond saying that their deaths were suspicious.

The child was treated for dehydration Monday afternoon and has recovered, Lee County Sheriff's spokeswoman Ileana Foell said. She said the toddler didn't appear to have any other injuries.

No arrests had been made Tuesday afternoon.

Mother, daughter found slain in home where dehydrated toddler sat outside

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (AP) — Two bodies found inside a southwest Florida home where a dehydrated child sat outside in a highchair were identified Tuesday by authorities as a mother and daughter.

The two were found dead Monday afternoon in the midst of a "large amount of blood" in their home, according to a police report. The cause of the deaths of Lorena Stone, 49, and Whitney Mendez, 19, was not released.
Authorities declined to identify the toddler who was found by a relative outside the home Monday. The toddler was treated for dehydration and taken to a safe location, Lee County sheriff's spokeswoman Illena Foell said.

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Several neighbors said they heard sounds like "fireworks" on Sunday night.
